On June 21, 2018, the French National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) issued Security Visas for the first time to providers of cybersecurity solutions. This new certification is intended to make it easier to identify the most reliable tools available on the market.
“With the ANSSI Security Visa, the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) has embarked on a drive to highlight the value of qualification and certification. I have no doubt that this will benefit every single stakeholder,” announced Guillaume Poupard, Director General of ANSSI.
Our day-to-day lives are becoming more and more digital. While the digital revolution is bringing us an array of opportunities, it also comes with its threats, which only continue to grow – becoming more widespread, effective, and sophisticated. Today, there is a wide variety of cybersecurity solutions available on the market. But not all of these offer the same level of effectiveness, robustness, and trust.
A global and educational vision
France’s national agency for cybersecurity has created Security Visas to help companies, authorities, Operators of Vital Importance (OVIs), and private individuals protect themselves as best as possible. The agency’s approach provides a “global and educational” vision across all of its certification and qualification processes.
“Thanks to the ANSSI Security Visa, product suppliers and service providers will find it easier to convey how reliable their security solutions are, both in France and beyond,” ANSSI declared. The certification serves as a security guarantee for users, but it also provides a competitive advantage for suppliers.
“By offering solutions that come with an ANSSI Security Visa, product suppliers and service providers put themselves a step ahead of the competition. Customers in France and across the world can rest assured they are getting robust, reliable cybersecurity solutions that have been given the seal of approval by ANSSI,” the agency stated.
The three objectives of the ANSSI Security Visa
- Legal
The ANSSI Security Visa is designed to meet the requirements of French and EU regulations, which stipulate that only solutions guaranteeing a proven level of robustness may be used.
- Contractual
Thanks to the Security Visa, customers can respond to public and private calls for tender requiring them to use solutions with the Security Visa label.
- Commercial
The Security Visa allows product suppliers, service providers, and end-users of their solutions to stand out from the competition by guaranteeing a certain level of robustness.
