Murprotec ramps up business with an easy-to-use electronic signature solution

European leader in its field for 67 years, Murprotec develops definitive damp proofing solutions for buildings. Its customer base includes home owners worried about their health and the value of their property, as well as professionals from the property sector (administrators, building managers, prime contractors, developers, retailers, etc.). The com-pany employs 600 people in 76 expert agencies across France, and has branches in eight other European countries.

Murprotec has three core areas of expertise : diagnosis (70,000 every year), work execution (10,000 projects per year) and verification (quality controls carried out throughout the warranty period, for up to 30 years). Strong synergies between these activities are essential. This means ha-ving access to a fast, efficient and secure system, able to transfer data from the field using digital technology. The aim is to provide a faster response for the customer, to print full diagnosis reports (on the spot), and to deliver immediate solutions. Maybe even to “raise an estimate (or an order), all without leaving the premises!

A digital solution to better meet customer needs : Murprotec’s ambition

Murprotec’s core skill is also the most impor-tant: everything hinges on the diagnosis. The diagnosis takes place in the home, in the case of private customers, or in the building ma-naged by the business user. It involves a full inspection of the property, viewing the interior and exterior, exploring every corner and taking samples. The diagnosis identifies any sources of damp, providing s a basis on which to make recommendations and guide the customer towards the most effective technical solutions. It is therefore an essential first step in the rela-tionship with the customer. Murprotec France carries out some 30,000 diagnoses every year (out of nearly 40,000 requests).

Diagnosis is a stage involving several key re-quirements:

  • Providing services on the customer’s pro-perty for contractual purposes falls under the Hamon Consumer Protection Act. Under the terms of this Act, direct sellers are bound by a legal obligation to protect the consumer.
  • Complying with this requirement and bringing together all the signatories needed for a quick decision is a huge challenge, given the wide range of documents to be signed, the many possible signatories, and the fact that each document must be signed independently of the others.
  • The process of forwarding the documents associated with the diagnosis (contracts, photos, estimates, order forms, etc.) to the various agencies around the country is hampered by lengthy processing times and by the prohibitive costs of physical travel.

MURPROTEC set three objectives for its digital transition: accelerate file processing, optimise business processes, and ensure compliance. With Oodrive Sign, it was able to meet all three ambitions.

Oodrive Sign: solutions extending beyond expectations

The first discussions between MURPROTEC and Oodrive concerning this digital project took place in March 2020, just before the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic. Far from leading the company to rethink its strategic choices, the health situation confirmed the need to digitise business processes: Oodrive Sign was rolled out in just a few months, the following year.

The result? A radical transformation of business processes, delivering benefits for customers and employees alike. Sign can be used to sign documents n any situation, face-to-face or remotely, including offline. “Being able to sign offline was a key factor in our decision,” explains Jean-Claude Laporte Riou. “It is not uncommon for the same document to be signed by several signatories, only some of whom may be present. With Oodrive Sign, our experts can collect all the necessary signatures in one run before leaving the customer’s property!”

At the same time, the new tool has changed the diagnosis process, both for technicians – who are able to produce complete reports at the customer’s property – and for administrative staff – who are able to focus on their core business rather than carrying out low value added tasks.

Further, the data collected during diagnosis is added to a gigantic database, helping to shape a map of housing in France and the problems associated with damp. MURPROTEC is able to draw upon this extensive library to provide business users with precise data. For Jean-Claude Laporte Riou, there is no turning back: “We will never return to the old diagnosis procedure. Sign represents a huge leap in technology in terms of the time spent on-site with the customer and the volume of data. We’re not going back.”

Finally, Sign has delivered more practical benefits, expressed through the ROI:

  • 40,000 euros in savings, since processes are (almost) paperless.
  • For technical staff, time savings equivalent to two days per week.
  • An eightfold decrease in the time spent by administrative staff on processing files.
